Coming off the critical success of their new EP Species at War, Finnish grindcore aficionados Rotten Sound have announced a North American headlining tour throughout the month of May. Featuring a revolving-door of support from the likes of Black Breath, Early Graves, and more, the 21-date trek will hit the following cities:

Enabler are a band that I told many people to watch out for. Being one of the top breakthrough artists of 2012 and also having their debut album earn a place on my year end list, this band means business. It’s no surprise that they have began to rise in fame, but what is surprising is that less than a year after their debut they are releasing an EP titled Shift of Redemption. While my mind is full of “wat” over how fast they did this, I’m beyond excited. New Enabler is awesome Enabler, and the band, judging by the single, haven’t changed one bit. The new track ‘Live Low’ is every bit as good as their debut, and for an EP, it will definitely hold its own among the rest of the hardcore scene. You can pre-order it here, and listen to the new single ‘Live Low’ over at Metalsucks. Follow them on Facebook so you can catch them live if they come to a show near you! Shift of Redemption will be out April 9th.

If I had my say, there would be a top one hundred list, because I enjoyed so many different albums this year. I’ve changed this list fifty seven times over the past week, so this list is me finally making a decision. It’s honestly been harder choosing this list than it has been choosing classes for next semester. I must say that 2012 has shown that music has not totally gone down the drain, because there are still so many amazing bands I’m just now hearing about, and so many great albums to listen to. So, without further ado, here are the twenty best albums to come out in 2012, and the six best albums that would be twenty one through twenty six that just didn’t make the cut.

Code Orange Kids are a four piece hardcore band that mean business. Releasing a few EPs and a split prior, their upcoming release Love Is Love // Return To Dust is definitely an album that I’m glad Dethcaek pointed out to me.  It’s certainly shaping up to be a year end highlight, if what we’ve heard so far is any indication. They have just released their pre-orders via Deathwish. Vinyl for twelve dollars, shirts for thirteen, and posters for two, it’s definitely not something to pass up if you’re a fan of Converge, Enabler, and Encrust.

Love Is Love // Return To Dust is out November 19th via Deathwish Records, though Code Orange Kids are streaming their new Kurt Ballou produced album in in full at this location. Keep an eye out for a full review in the coming weeks. If you’re not feeling dedicated enough to check out the stream, the video for the band’s single ‘Flowermouth (The Leech)‘ can be viewed below:

With a signing to Southern Lord and members list that includes stints in Trap ThemShai HuludMisery Signals and, of all things, Fallout Boy, it’s probably fair to say that Enabler have a pedigree. And while the idea of a ‘supergroup’ tends to bring out the cynics in flocks, upon first listen of their new album All Hail The Void it’s hard to deny that they do themselves justice. Comprised of crusty, metallic hardcore that seats itself in the same school of ‘Entombed-core’ as bands like All Pigs Must Die and the aforementioned Trap Them — it’s exactly the kind of violent aural massage I needed to start this week and you can catch the full album stream too over at BlowTheScene.com before it drops tomorrow!

While I am BEYOND EXCITED for Summer Slaughter Tour this year, some metal fans out there aren’t too keen on the likes of Periphery, Veil of Maya, etc. Understandable, I suppose; we all have our tastes and there’s nothing wrong with that so long as you’re not an asshole about it. For those waiting for a more underground package tour to come to fruition, you’re in luck, because Southern Lord’s putting something together.

Here’s the scoop from the press release:

Southern Lord this week confirms a devastating label tour package for this June and July, bringing some of the label’s newest and most promising acts as well as some major players on the eclectic but lethal roster together for a near month-long trek across the face of America.

Organized and booked by Southern Lord founder Greg Anderson, the core acts for the tour include the Ontario-based hardcore/rock outfit BURNING LOVE (featuring ex-Cursed vocalist), the dark lords of Swedish crust MARTYRDOD making their debut U.S. appearance, Milwaukee’s punk/hardcore crossover outfit ENABLER and Seattle’s powerhouse d-beat/death-infused hardcore bastards BLACK BREATH. Special additional performances from POISON IDEA, NOOTHGRUSH, PELICAN, POWERTRIP, WILD/TRIBE, DEAD IN THE DIRT, THE SECRET, ALL PIGS MUST DIE and more will join some of the shows regionally as well.

The final routing is still being plotted and finalized, and a fully confirmed itinerary will be publicized in the next two weeks as it all takes shape.

So there you go, hardcore fans! Dates are to be announced soon, and we’ll fill you in when they’re available.
