Tag Archive: Conducting From The Grave

Here’s another tour for you folks to throw all of your money at: All Shall Perish has a headlining tour coming up in April featuring support from Carnifex, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Conducting from the Grave, and The Contortionist. Most of this lineup is absolutely stellar, and I’m sure I don’t have to tell you which band will serve as my so-called “beer break,” (and I don’t even drink). Here’s a hint: I’ve seen them twice already.

Okay, it’s Carnifex. Sorry. They get a good audience reaction and they’re really cool guys in person, but they’re not my cup of tea. I’ve never seen Fleshgod Apocalypse or The Contortionist live though, and I am quite excited at the prospect of seeing them finally perform. Fleshgod Apocalypse had one of the best death metal records last year with Agony, and The Contortionist are arguably the future of prog and are easily the best deathcore band out there. Having them both on the same bill makes the show and the trip out worth it. I’ve heard that both bands are excellent live, so I look forward to seeing them.

Here are your dates:

03/29 Oakland, CA – Oakland Metro Operahouse
03/30 Simi Valley, CA – 118 West

Sumerian signees Structures promised, as per the above poster, to release a demo of a new track called ‘Hydroplaning‘ today at 12pm EST. Well, it’s 12pm EST, SO WHERE’S MY DAMN CHOON?

HERE’S YOUR DAMN SONG. CHUH!

Thoughts?

Some of us are sold on Structures, and some of us aren’t, but either way they will be on the Slaughter Survivors Tour this month with VolumesRings of SaturnScale The SummitThe Contortionist, and Conducting From The Grave, which we think will be infinitely better than the Summer Slaughter tour, which said bands weren’t selected for.

Alright, so I think I’ve bitched enough about how The Summer Slaughter Tour for the year is a tad bit lackluster. Last year’s lineup was pretty consistent in quality, but this year features more terrible music that I care to drive four hours or more to sit through. Some of you that are luckily enough to not be geographically impaired and happen to really dig The Black Dahlia Murder and don’t care to drive a half hour to see them headline over shitty bands like Oceano. Good for you! Really, I wish I had that luxury, but seeing as how I’m apparently four hours away from any good show, I have to weed out the bullshit. I’m sure I’m not the only one around here that has to do a bit of travel to see shows, so when I talk about tours and such, I’m a bit critical of lineup consistency and such for those in my predicament. So yeah, done with that.

However, a lineup that does feature more consistently great acts is Slaughter Survivors, a collection of bands that were considered for the opening support slot for Summer Slaughter. The bands, for the most part, seem to be conveniently catered specifically for Heavy Blog Is Heavy’s general demographic and readership. The most vocal of you seem to line up with me in taste, so you should dig the lineup:

CONDUCTING FROM THE GRAVE, THE CONTORTIONIST, SCALE THE SUMMIT, RINGS OF SATURN, VOLUMES & STRUCTURES

Now that’s a lineup I’d drive four hours to see, and it looks like I might just be able to! Check out the dates after the jump.

This summer’s shaping up to be a pretty good one, all things considered. We have that Slaughter Survivors tour coming up with Conducting From The Grave, The Contortionist, and some other cool bands that we’re dying to get tour dates for and now Animals Leaders are going on a national headline tour with Intronaut, Dead Letter Circus, Last Chance To Reason, and Evan Brewer. The first batch of dates have been released for the AAL tour, and it’s shaping up to be pretty decent:

07/07 San Diego, CA – Soma
07/08 Anaheim, CA – Chain Reaction
07/10 West Hollywood, CA – Key Club
07/11 Scottsdale, AZ – Martini Ranch
07/13 Colorado Springs, CO – Black Sheep
07/14 Wichita, KS – The Oz
07/15 Des Moines, IA – Vaudeville Mews
07/16 Joliet, IL – Mojoes
07/17 Grand Rapids, MI – The Intersection
07/18 Buffalo, NY – Mohawk Place
07/19 Farmingdale, NY – Crazy Donkey
07/20 Albany, NY – Northern Lights

I can only assume the 2nd half of the tour will hit the East and Midwest a bit more—at least I hope so. Despite being new signings to Sumerian Records, which is a sign of impending constant touring, Dead Letter Circus are Australian; They probably won’t be able to make it over here that often, and I’d like to see them before they head back home. I’d also like to see how Evan Brewer would perform live—since his upcoming solo album is entirely bass, how will it translate through a live setting? Will it be just him noodling around on bass? It’d be cool to see, and I’m sure the type of metal fan that would enjoy a show like this would find it to be interesting, especially if he plays with two basses. The whole lineup is great, and Animals as Leaders put on one of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen.

More dates when we get em! Cross your fingers!

Remember how we were supposed to vote for the opening acts on this years yawn-worthy Summer Slaughter Tour? Well, Within the Ruins won the popularity contest and are heading off on the trek. But good news folks! Out of that circlejerk came an even better and consistent lineup of young bands via The Slaughter Survivors Tour:

CONDUCTING FROM THE GRAVE

THE CONTORTIONIST

SCALE THE SUMMIT

RINGS OF SATURN

VOLUMES

STRUCTURES

Basically, a few of the bands that didn’t make the opening slot got their own tour going and brought along Scale the Summit for good measure! This means Heavy Blog favorites The Contortionist is getting pretty decent facetime! No dates yet, but it should run through July – August. We’ll post dates when we get em!

Will DaRosa Directing From The Grave

Is my witty way of saying that California’s Conducting From The Grave have a new video, directed by Will DaRosa, for their track “Her Poisoned Tongues” from Revenants.

The idea was to recreate the atmosphere of a live show, and although I can’t comment on their level of success with this, it looks like a pretty good show nonetheless. Lots of atmospheric lights and kids stage diving. Its what it’s all about, no?

There’s also some nice lingering fretboard shots for the guitar tab nerds out there. I know I always find that sort of thing pretty useful.

Sumerian Records recently dropped word of a collaboration album being made with Sumerian Records artists under the name Sumerian Nation. I’m running under the assumption that it will be similar to Roadrunner United and Nuclear Blast All-Stars collaborations where a hodge-podge of different artists from Sumerian-signed bands write songs together. This could be both great and lackluster—the Sumerian roster has a few unsavory bands tucked into the fold, to put it lightly. Here’s a list of bands signed to the label.

After The Burial
Animals As Leaders
Asking Alexandria
Bizzy Bone
Born of Osiris
Circle of Contempt
Conducting From The Grave
Enfold Darkness
The Faceless
I See Stars
I, The Breather
Lower than Atlantis
Periphery
Stick To Your Guns
Stray From The Path
TRAM
Upon a Burning Body
Veil of Maya

Obviously, The Faceless and Periphery could write a hell of a song between them, but Asking Alexandria and I See Stars coming together on a song could spell disaster. We’ll see how it goes, as it’s pretty split even as far as ratio of good bands to bad, but I’d like to think there’s a high volume of talent on board.

Keep an eye out for more information. This is an interesting idea, and I’d like to hear more about this.

Lambgoat, who apparently has the worst metal community since before Blabbermouth’s stepped up moderation (who coined the tasteless ‘vanflip’ meme), has debuted a brand new Conducting From The Grave track right here. It’s a damn good song with a sound that fans of  Conducting will certainly love. It has me all kinds of excited for their upcoming album, Revenants, due out next week on Sumerian Records.

You can pre-order the album here, if that is to be desired. So far, it seems totally worth it.

Don’t be silly. Of course you are!

Last night, Conducting From The Grave updated their MySpace page with a new song called “And Our War Will Dawn” and a layout featuring the artwork and for their upcoming album titled Revenants, due out October 26th on Sumerian Records. I am as giddy as a school girl over this.

I was worried about the new vocalist at first, but my fears were immediately put to rest on this new song. Everything is certainly sounding as great as it’s ever been, and the fact that the release is only a month away has put me on the edge of my seat. These guys can write some damn good melodeath inspired deathcore that is miles ahead of any of their contemporaries. I am not bullshitting you.

Listen to this new jam over on MySpace. Pre-orders begin TOMORROW, which happens to be my birthday.

*wink wink*

Remnants is out October 26th. Mark your damn calendars.

I don’t get to go to metal shows very often, so I have to pick and choose wisely. It seemed to me that Summer Slaughter’s stop fell on a Friday within a 4 hour distance and had arguably the best lineup, so that’s what I set my sights on. I was ready to have a good time, and all in all, I did.

However, things started off in the shitter. I was planning on and looking forward to interviewing The Red Chord’s Guy Kozowyk, but upon arriving at the box office I was turned away. Apparently, the guy at the ticket booth was not given any names under The Red Chord’s list, leaving me a bit confused, annoyed, and somewhat embarrassed. Seeing my genuine look of confusion, he offered to go and talk to the band and see what was up while I waited. After a few minutes had passed, he came back to tell me that there was too much going on backstage to get a hold of anyone and that it would be a good 20 minutes before he could reach anyone. I then noticed that people were being let in, so I said “I guess I’ll just buy a ticket and come back later,” and joined my friend (who had never heard of most of the bands on the bill) in line. Sadly, the shit didn’t stop there. Apparently it had hit the fan and sprayed all over the stage.
