It feels like forever since Circle of Contempt released their debut album, but it turns out it was released this week two years ago. How time flies, eh?

The Finnish Sumerian-signed group are hard at work on their new album, which is set to be released early next year. The group released a video featuring a new pre-production track called “Entwine The Threads.” I like what I’m hearing so far! Give it a listen above.

Remember We Are The Illusion? You should, jerks! They released a kickass EP The Podium of Lies last year for free which rivaled bands like Born of Osiris and Circle of Contempt. They’re certainly cut from the same cloth as the good half of the Sumerian Records roster, so check them out if you’re into that style of music.

We Are The Illusion announced a new two-track EP Echo/Nine Circles, to be released May 10th on their newfound home of Famined Records. You can listen to some samples of the new music in the promotional teaser above. I’m excited to hear the rest of it, but a two-track EP? New music is super sweet and all that, but I’m jonesin’ for a full length from these dudes. Someone make it happen!

If you haven’t, you can listen to The Podium of Lies after the jump!

Sumerian Records recently dropped word of a collaboration album being made with Sumerian Records artists under the name Sumerian Nation. I’m running under the assumption that it will be similar to Roadrunner United and Nuclear Blast All-Stars collaborations where a hodge-podge of different artists from Sumerian-signed bands write songs together. This could be both great and lackluster—the Sumerian roster has a few unsavory bands tucked into the fold, to put it lightly. Here’s a list of bands signed to the label.

After The Burial
Animals As Leaders
Asking Alexandria
Bizzy Bone
Born of Osiris
Circle of Contempt
Conducting From The Grave
Enfold Darkness
The Faceless
I See Stars
I, The Breather
Lower than Atlantis
Periphery
Stick To Your Guns
Stray From The Path
TRAM
Upon a Burning Body
Veil of Maya

Obviously, The Faceless and Periphery could write a hell of a song between them, but Asking Alexandria and I See Stars coming together on a song could spell disaster. We’ll see how it goes, as it’s pretty split even as far as ratio of good bands to bad, but I’d like to think there’s a high volume of talent on board.

Keep an eye out for more information. This is an interesting idea, and I’d like to hear more about this.

Apparently today is a day for new music! We Are The Illusion, if you do not recall our last coverage of them, are a bit of a sumeriancore band with a sound that will fall comfortably on the ears of fans of bands like Veil of Maya, Born of Osiris, and Circle of Contempt while not actually being carbon copies of those bands. In fact, I’d say they might just be better. If you like your core on the proggy side, check out their new EP Podium of Lies below and download it via bandcamp. It’s actually pretty damn amazing!

I definitely dig it. What do you guys think?

Finnish Sumeriancore band Circle of Contempt have began working on the follow-up to their 2009 debut record Artifacts in Motion. If this is anything like Artifacts, it should be pretty damn good. No other news is available at the moment, but this little piece of news gets me just a little excited.

Here’s their video for their song “Concealed” off of Artifacts In Motion, out now on Sumerian Records.

This past summer has been full of great tours here in North America, and one of the ones I’ve been most excited for is the Over The Limit Tour. With a fairly solid lineup of mostly techy deathcore bands, with a few exceptions, I was expecting a pretty good show. I’ll go ahead and tell you I was disappointed with what some of them had to offer, but the show only cost me $10 and it was only an hour drive to Ground Zero in Spartanburg SC from where I live so I’m not complaining.

Yesterday, a new Oceano tour was announced in the way of the Over The Limit Tour, in which they co-headline with As Blood Runs Black. Normally when I see headlines such as this in my RSS Feed, I ignore them. But this time, I had to take a look, as Arsonists Get All The GirlsThe Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, and Circle of Contempt are also on the tour. Circle of Contempt are good, but Danza and Arsonists are god-tier in the scene as far as I’m concerned and them touring together is enough for my pants to get a little tight. The fact that they have to open for this shit deathcore band Oceano is proof that there is no justice in this world.

Also in the lineup: Thick as Blood, Burning The Masses, Blindwitness, with Sons of Aurelius and This or the Apocalypse on select dates. I don’t particularly care enough about any of them, but that’s besides the point. Danza and Arsonists are going to be on tour together. Get excited.

Here’s the plan: Show up, see show, leave before Oceano comes on.

Here are the dates for the tour:

July 23 – Lake Station, IN @ Lake Station Eagles Hall
July 24 – Evansville, IN @ Boney Junes
July 25 – Toledo, OH @ Headliners
July 26 – Grand Rapids, MI @ The Intersection
July 27 – Pittsburgh, PA @ Altar Bar
July 28 – Reading, PA @ The Silo
July 29 – Poughkeepsie, NY @ The Loft
July 30 – Vineland, NJ @ Hangar 84
July 31 – Worcester, MA @ The Palladium (w/ Summer Slaughter)
August 1 – Springfield, VA @ Jaxx
August 2 – Fayetteville, NC @ The Rock Shop
August 3 – Spartanburg, SC @ Ground Zero
August 5 – Jacksonville, FL @ The Pit
August 6 – Orlando, FL @ H2O Live
August 7 – Douglasville, GA @ The 7 Venue
August 8 – Memphis, TN @ New Daisy Theatre
August 9 – Tulsa, OK @ Marquee Theatre
August 10 – Tyler, TX @ Knights of Columbus
August 12 – Corpus Christi, TX @ House of Rock
August 13 – McAllen, TX @ Las Palmas Event Center

Circle of Contempt Post Music Video

I never really bothered to check these guys out before, so shame on me! Looks like I’m going to have to now. This was pretty cool. I enjoyed this take on metalcore.

The song is called “Concealed” and it comes off of last year’s Artifacts in Motion, which I’m going to listen to right now. It’s available now on Sumerian Records.
