So, Ron Jarzombek’s instrumental tech death project Blotted Science have an upcoming EP called The Animation of Entomology. For the uninformed, the band consists of Ron Jarzombek of Watchtower and Spastic Ink fame on guitars, Cannibal Corpse bassist Alex Webster and now Hannes Grossmann of ex-Necrophagist and currently of Obscura on drums! If this lineup doesn’t excite you, I don’t know what can. We don’t have any info on the upcoming album yet…except for the following teaser video with excerpts from each song!

If you liked 2007′s The Machinations of Dementia, this seems like more of that awesomeness, with some extra added. Ron Jarzombek is a mastermind, and this is no exception; however the addition of Hannes Grossmann is what seems to have made a difference, as there are some tight blast beats on the teaser, which were absent on the previous album.

The Animation of Entomology should be out this fall on EclecticElectric, which seems to be Ron Jarzombek’s own label. Stay tuned for more information.

I’ve been a fan of the band for some time and all the material they’ve put out in the past has been good, but with Irradiance, the band has easily surpassed all of my expectations with an album that is truly remarkable. From metalcore to technical death metal, these are albums I truly think stand out above the rest. Albums that I listen to on a regular basis because they’re original, executed well or even both. They may not be front-to-back perfect and they may not be for everyone, and perhaps many of you will find that you disagree. Nevertheless, these are albums I think people should at least give a listen.

Enter week 5. Jeez, feels like I’ve only written this column that no one cares about twice. Anyway, it’s noodle time in Wank City with Blotted Science‘s The Machinations of Dementia. If you don’t know who Blotted Science is I have deep pain for you. They’re a supergroup of 3 musicians consisting of guitarist Ron Jarzombek (Watchtower, Spastic Ink), bassist Alex Webster (Cannibal Corpse) and drummer Charlie Zeleny (Behold… the Arctopus) and they play extremely awesome instrumental prog metal.
