143 – We Called This 144 Because Reasons

Heavy Pod Is Heavy Cast!

A bunch of industry news this week! Spotify uniting with Distrokid, revenue shares of services, and ranting about monopolies versus fragmentation. Then some bummer news – Oli from All That Remains passed away, the Ghost members lost their lawsuit, and The Faceless are embarking on a 10th anniversary tour for Planetary Duality. Then some new music! Babymetal, Soilwork, Fractal Cypher, and Beyond Creation. Then cool people time! I gush about The Return of the Obra Dinn, and Eden gushes about Maniac. Enjoy!

Beyond Creation – Algorythm

Seems it was just yesterday when Beyond Creation emerged from the ever-bountiful wellspring of Quebecois technical death metal, fully formed, boasting an impressive level of technicality and confidence on 2011 debut The Aura. But 2014 brought a vastly different album in followup Earthborn Evolution, which maintained the core sound the band had established,…

135 – Dog Of Raw

This week, regular co-host Cody joins us for a whole lot of news. And of course I immediately derail it by trolling him. But then, we discuss: Revolver’s 20 essential nu-metal albums list, new music from Dol Ammad, Within the Ruins, Skyharbor, Monuments, Metal Allegiance, Doug Moore of Pyrrhon performing with an orchestra, Neckbeard Deathcamp, Science of Disorder, Voivod, Beyond Creation, Geist of Trinity, and Behemoth. Also Testament’s new cryptocurrency. Then we do a cool people section about some games, movies, and Cody’s vegetarian diet. Enjoy!

Death’s Door – September 2017

Welcome to Death’s Door! Wipe your feet on the mat. Don’t want any oil getting on the floor. Yes, you heard me correctly. Oil. OIL. Everywhere. I remember a time when Hell was just covered in blood, now we’ve got these god-forsaken machines running around everywhere. Oh, but they don’t have SOULS they said. Tell that to my hellhound. All dogs do indeed go somewhere, and it isn’t always to the pearly gates. Anyhoo, technical death metal is king of the castle in 2017, and there isn’t much we can do about it. Sentient robots, alien lifeforms, and all that jazz. What a year it’s been, and frankly the amount of amazing music still to be heard troubles me. I don’t have time for this. I have shit to do. But here we are, discussing another ferocious month of death metal insanity. Grab a bone chair and make yourself a Bloody Mary (she won’t mind), there’s some good stuff to cover.
