I’m not a fan of A Plea For Purging (though I appreciate them for their humor) or As Hell Retreats, but it strikes me as sad that these two bands decided that the best course for action would be to disband and get “real” jobs instead. It’s good to know that they’re taking it in good humor, as evidenced by the tour’s poster, but still, it’s a bummer that it had to come to this. Times are tough, and given A Plea For Purging’s devoted fans and moderate success over the last few years, it doesn’t bode too well.
From the band’s Facebook, via Under The Gun:
PLEA will be playing our final U.S. shows alongside, long time friends, AS HELL RETREATS in August and September of this year. The run has been dubbed the “QUIT YOUR BAND AND GET A JOB TOUR.” The last seven years have been amazing. Come have one more party and a few more stage dives with us at one of these final shows.
So party on with APFP and As Hell Retreats on their final tour. Dates are after the jump!
Here’s another North American spring tour to get excited about! The Return To The Motherland Tour, featuring Arsonists Get All The Girls, A Plea For Purging, Lionheart, The Contortionist, and Volumes. Typically, no matter how awesome some of the bands on a tour may be, there will also usually be one or two bands on the bill that blow. This tour is an exception though; even though I don’t love every band, there aren’t any that I hate either (except maybe Lionheart, but that’s more because of my personal musical tastes). Of course, I’m most excited to see The Contortionist again, because they put on an amazing show, and Exoplanet is awesome. This is going to be a great tour, so don’t miss it! You can check out the dates after the jump.
Holy shit man, I honestly thought I’d seen it all. I’ve been to quite a few shows in my day, and while I still really enjoy seeing bands live, these days I find myself feeling more and more like a jaded old metal guy. This is pretty sad since I’m only 25, but in a world overrun with scene kids and kung fu moves – I can’t help but sit back and feel like the glory days have passed me by. I usually just stand by the bar sipping beers, enjoying the music, and longing for the days of old school circle pits so I could get my big ass in there and knock the shit out of these morons. But I digress…
Is this the last in a long list of bands that have called it quits in 2010? Haste the Day are putting an end to their run as a band, pretty much to the tune of, “That’ll do, pig. That’ll do.”
Here’s the official statement:
“This is a very difficult announcement to make, but Haste The Day will be doing its final tour February – March 2011. It has been an incredible 10 years and we want to thank all of our amazing fans who have stuck with us through all of our changes and growth as a band. If it weren’t for all of you, this band would have been nothing. There are many reasons why HTD is ending, however we mainly feel as though we have created the best music we can and believe it is now time for us to move on to the next stage of our lives. I remember when this band started a decade ago, we wanted to be like the Solid State/Tooth and Nail Records bands we grew up idolizing. We wanted to use our passion for heavy music and the love that God put in us to be a light in the underground scene; letting people know they are loved, important, forgiven no matter what, and capable of using their gifts to serve their fellow man. I never imagined that we would be able to put out five full length albums, tour the world, and develop so many meaningful relationships with the people who came to our shows. Without your support, this wouldn’t have been possible.
OH SHIT, SPLIT SCREEN HAX:
First up, there’s a new Whitechapel
song called “Breeding Violence”
streaming over at Noisecreep
FOR TODAY ONLY. Tonight, they pull it, so get to hearing it while you can. It sounds just like Whitechapel, so you should know what to expect when you go romping around over there. The song is off of their upcoming album, A New Era Of Corruption
, which is due out June 8th on Metal Blade Records.
Second on the agenda is A Plea For Purging
and their new song “The Eternal Female,”
which is off of their upcoming album The Marriage Of Heaven And Hell
, out July 6th on Facedown Records. You can hear that over on their Facebook page
. This is the better of the two songs, in my opinion, but I suppose that’s like saying I’d much rather stub my toe than get kicked in the balls.
