Category: Tours and Rumors of Tours

So I don’t know if you guys have noticed, but a lot of awesome tours have been announced and hinted at over the past two weeks. It seems like every awesome band is getting buddy-buddy with another awesome band and trekking through North America together. The only thing I have to complain about is…none of them are coming near me.  Which sucks, but honestly I can live with not going because knowing that metal fans will have such a wide array of awesome shows to go to is enough to make me happy. Well, kind of.

Anywho, as it says up top Intronaut have just announced a small selection of shows with openers Black Tusk and East of the Wall. Now there’s only a handful of dates, but damn does that line-up sound nice. If I had to choose I think this tour would be the one I wound up going to…you know, if it were anywhere near me. Sigh.

[EDIT - EOTW and Black Tusk will be playing more shows without Intronaut. Full run of dates after the jump!]

Earlier this week, Meshuggah had a live chat with fans that was pretty much free reign on the questions, from dealing with their new album Koloss to frontman Jens Kidman’s face. It was all fun, but very little in the way of new and useful information was made available. What we did get to find out though is that Meshuggah are planning to tour North America with Decapitated and Baroness this spring. Woah!

The pairing of Meshuggah and Decapitated makes perfect sense, but Baroness sort of stick out as oddballs in the lineup, but surely there’s a cross-section of fans there in terms of the shared progressive leaning of the bands on the bill; I know I’d love to see all three of these bands on the same bill. It’ll keep the night varied a bit at least!

There are no tour dates for this trek yet, but you can probably expect those to be announced in the next month or so. As always, we’ll let you know when there’s more to tell!

Thrash giants  Overkill are going to release a follow up to 2010′s precious gem Ironbound, which was proof that bands can make a come back after 30 years. Not much as been said yet, but we know it will be released on March 27th and being recorded and mixed at Gain Studios in New Jersey (owned by bassist D.D. Verni). In the mean time, you can see them at the Killfest 2 tour with Belphegor, Aborted, Blackguard, System Divide, and Diamond Plate in the conveniently placed section after the jump!

Here’s another tour for you folks to throw all of your money at: All Shall Perish has a headlining tour coming up in April featuring support from Carnifex, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Conducting from the Grave, and The Contortionist. Most of this lineup is absolutely stellar, and I’m sure I don’t have to tell you which band will serve as my so-called “beer break,” (and I don’t even drink). Here’s a hint: I’ve seen them twice already.

Okay, it’s Carnifex. Sorry. They get a good audience reaction and they’re really cool guys in person, but they’re not my cup of tea. I’ve never seen Fleshgod Apocalypse or The Contortionist live though, and I am quite excited at the prospect of seeing them finally perform. Fleshgod Apocalypse had one of the best death metal records last year with Agony, and The Contortionist are arguably the future of prog and are easily the best deathcore band out there. Having them both on the same bill makes the show and the trip out worth it. I’ve heard that both bands are excellent live, so I look forward to seeing them.

Alcest and Deafheaven, two of post-black metal’s best stand-out acts, are about to make a journey across the United States together in what is sure to be an excellent tour filled with blasts, screams, tremolo picking, and delay pedals.

Alcest’s Les Voyages de l’Âme (The Journeys of the Soul) was one of the first worthy releases of the new year, whereas Deafheaven spent the end of last year writing for a potential split release, promising “faster, darker, a lot heavier and far more experimental” music than their April 2011 release Roads To Judah.

Back to the tour, here are the dates so far:

03.20.2012 New Orleans, LA – Big Top
03.21.2012 Tampa, FL – Crowbar
03.22.2012 Orlando, FL – Will’s Pub
03.23.2012 Atlanta, GA – 529

We’re barely a month into the new year and things are already looking like 2012 might just beat out 2011′s glorious year for metal. The Faceless (select dates), Dying Fetus, Job For A Cowboy (select dates) Goatwhore, Volumes, and Last Chance To Reason are touring this March out in the Eastern United States. I can’t speak on the whole lineup and how they deliver live, but you can guarantee that The Faceless and Last Chance To Reason are worth the trip out and the ticket price alone. Everything else is just a bonus.

2/26 — Keene, NH @ Railroad Tavern
2/28 — Providence, RI @ PVD Social Club
2/29 — Hartford, CT @ Webster Underground

A lineup for the much teased Decibel Magazine Tour has finally been announced, and it will feature Behemoth, Watain, The Devil’s Blood, and In Solitude. It’s only fitting that the first ever Decibel Magazine Tour would be something as monumental as this, being Nergel’s first US tour since his Leukemia diagnosis and recovery. This year is shaping up to be quite the year for live music!

The lineup was hand-picked by Decibel Magazine, arguably the best metal magazine out there right now. The tour will run 26 dates, which should be announced next week. For more information on this stellar tour, you can read up on it over at the tour’s official website. Get excited for this, because this undoubtedly will be a killer show.

With all the hustle and bustle about Sweden’s returned punk heroes Refused it’s apt that, on their recent European tour supporting Enter Shikari with Your Demise, American post-hardcore band letlive. saw fit to cover Refused’s track ‘The Deadly Rhythm‘ from The Shape Of Punk To Come when they passed through the Swedish stops of Gothenburg, Stockholm and Malmö, and the ever-vigilant Rock Sound were there to film it! I like, even though it misses some of the nuances of the original — but that’s punk for you; you’re not supposed to do it ‘properly’!

More importantly, frontman Jason Butler cites Refused as one of the reasons they exist, which given the quality of their most recent release Fake History, is something for which to be thankful.

In related news, letlive. will be heading out on the Dead Throne Tour in support of The Devil Wears Prada with Every Time I Die and Oh, Sleeper at the beginning of March, and despite the meh headliner, this is definitely a tour worth turning up for. Details after the jump!
