Compared to how awesome last week’s pile of releases was, this week’s doesn’t really hit as hard. However, we do see the release of the debut Friend For A Foe EP. It’s about time! Before I get into that though, here’s this week’s new releases.

Absu – Abzu (Candlelight)
The Browning – Burn This World (Earache)
Friend for a Foe – Source Of Isolation (Myriad)
Jane’s Addiction – The Great Escape Artist (Capitol)
La Dispute – Wildlife (No Sleep)
Wayne Static – Pighammer (Dirthouse)

Alright, back to Friend for a Foe. You can stream Source Of Isolation below and download it via Bandcamp. If you don’t remember, FFaF are a Washington DC based band featuring Chris Barretto (ex-Periphery) on vocals, and he does a killer job. If that isn’t a strong selling point, I don’t know what is.

Did you know that this week sees the first new Primus album in over a decade?! There’s some other stuff too, so soak it in:

Anthrax – Worship Music (Megaforce)
ÆGES – Roaches (Hawthorne Street)
Dream Theater – A Dramatic Turn of Events (Roadrunner)
Haste The Day – Haste The Day Vs. Haste The Day (DVD/CD) (Solid State)
Mogwai – Earth Division (Sub Pop)
Pathology – Awaken To The Suffering (Victory)
Primus – Green Naugahyde (Prawn Songs/ATO Records)
Staind – Staind (Atlantic)
The Devil Wears Prada – Dead Throne (Ferret Music)
Vader – Welcome To The Morbid Reich (Nuclear Blast)
We Came As Romans – Understanding What We’ve Grown To Be (Equal Vision)
Wolves In The Throne Room – Celestial Lineage (Southern Lord)
Wolves Like Us – Late Love (Prosthetic)

I sometimes wonder how Pathology feels being one of the only respectable bands still signed to Victory. I guess it’s sort of like that awkward situation where you’re talking with dudes who notice your obscure t-shirt and think they identify with you and insist on talking about how great Asking Alexandria are while you smile and nod.

That reminds me, I once had a guy ask me if I enjoyed Emmure after he found out I write about heavier music. The dude has a neck tattoo now. True story.

Have a good week!

I haven't heard the new Century record, but the album art's pretty neat and I don't feel like making a header image.

Reviews will be making a much needed return this week, but for how long though remains to be seen. There’s at least two scheduled, so there’s that!

Also, if you didn’t know or notice the new ad to the right, I’m playing through Deus Ex: Human Revolution on YouTube. Our British editor Disinformasiya says I’m so terrible at playing the game that it’s hard for him to watch what with having already played through where I am, but contends that I’m quite endearing. So there’s that if you’re bored at work and can spare 10 minutes.

Have a gander at this week’s new releases, where nothing looks all that interesting:

Bobaflex – Hell In My Heart (MRI)
Century – Red Giant (Prosthetic)
Creations – The Gospel (Mediaskare)
Hackneyed – Carnival Cadavre (Lifeforce)
Kittie – I’ve Failed You (eOne)
Powerman 5000 – Copies, Clones & Replicants (Cleopatra)
Stand Your Ground – Despondanseas (Mediaskare)
Stray From The Path – Rising Sun (Sumerian)
xTyrantx – Extinction (Eulogy)

Holy shit, Powerman 5000 are still around?!

Have a good week folks!

I start classes today. Shit. Here’s the short list of new music out this week:

Black Tide – Post Mortem (Interscope)
ICS Vortex – Storm Seeker (Century Media)
Leprous – Bilateral (InsideOut)

Dang. Sorry for the lame start to today’s news feed for you. Are you ready for a huge bummer? The next two news stories may just ruin your day, but hey, try not to let that ruin your week!
