With Our Arms To The Sun are back. Following on the heels of 2014’s well-received LP, A Far Away Wonder, the band has enlisted indie legend Buzz Osbourne to produce and are ready to drop Orenda on 4/21. We’ve got the premiere of “The War: Light The Shadows.”

The band’s sound is relatively multi-hued, so it’s hard to say that “The War: Light The Shadows” is typical of the new full-length, but it is certainly an appetizer. This song, and the album in total, place a greater emphasis on frontman and mastermind Joshua Breckenridge’s vocals, which have more of a burly, sludge feel and less of the post-black metal feel that powered what vocals there were on A Far Away Wonder. That said, the band is still weighted heavily towards instrumental work, so “The War: Light The Shadows” is misleading in that way, as it the vocals really dominate and are way out front in the mix.

The clouds in the video and the multi-tracked, chorus-like singing gives listeners an idea of what they’re going for here, right down to the abrupt cut-off that feels like an interrupted segue. This is an album that relies on sequencing and totality to achieve a cinematic effect, so designating a single is tough. Nonetheless, give the vid a watch and check out the full-length later this month.
