Record release shows are always fun. Especially for a band rapidly on the rise for the last couple years. Opening up the show at Amityville Music Hall was one of Long Island’s best up-and-coming “prog revival” bands, Consonance. Having just released their debut EP Autonomia, they’ve been playing it in full as their live performance, and man, that EP sounds HUGE live. Definitely recommend keeping an eye out for them. Following was Overcomer. This lineup had its perfect blend of heaviness and progressive attitude, and this band brought the heavier side of the show. After Overcomer was Ollocs. To put it short, Ollocs could probably be considered Long Island’s Scale The Summit (which fits perfectly since they opened for Scale The Summit in 2014). They have long, mostly instrumental songs, their melodic leads, all while still being interesting. Following was More Of Myself To Kill, who, like Consonance, have been killing it in bringing back prog. As if their name didn’t give it away, they really enjoy Between The Buried And Me, and you can also hear the BTBAM influence in their music, too. Ending their special album release show, TOOTHGRINDER took the torch and destroyed the rest of the heavy and prog path that the four bands before traveled on leading up to the end of the show, playing most of their new album entitled Nocturnal Masquerade, which is phenomenal. Enjoy the pictures below!
