It would be an understatement to say that it’s been a pretty interesting week as far as cancellations and member changes in metal go. Now to add to that list is one of the founding members of Revocation, drummer Phil Dubois. MetalSucks broke the story yesterday and statements from both Dubois and the rest of the band have subsequently followed. It’s certainly a pretty shocking and unexpected departure, to say the least.

Dubois was more than positive about his departure, saying that “I look back on my time with Revocation with nothing but fond memories, and feel incredibly lucky to have been part of something so special.” He’s currently out on the road with Cannibal Corpse as a drum tech, and also wanted fans to know that “I’ve decided that it is no longer the right path for me, so I will be moving forward to pursue new musical projects.”

The band also issued a statement yesterday and wanted everyone to know that “We’ve had a great nine years together and are sad to see him go. We wish him nothing but the best with his future endeavors and we’re all sure that he will continue to kill it behind the kit.”

Phil’s relentless and furious drumming will undoubtedly be missed, and whoever decides to take the reins is definitely going to have their work cut out for them. The band hasn’t made any indication that they have a new full-time guy behind the kit just yet, however. Maybe it will be Alex Rudinger? Or maybe Tim Yeung since he just left Morbid Angel? Who knows, but we’ll let you know as soon as we find out anything. In the meantime we’ll also be on the lookout for any music Phil Dubois-related.
