Richmond, Virginia has one of the most underrated scenes for underground, heavy music. Ranging from Lamb of God, Gwar, Strike Anywhere, Municipal Waste, Cannabis Corpse and Cough, pretty much every style of metal, hardcore, and punk rock is represented quite well in the state’s capital city. If you’re looking for a fresh face in the scene, look no further than Venomspitter, who should blow you away in just a few short minutes.

With the release of their self-titled EP just a few months ago, Venomspitter have managed to capture more than just lightning in a bottle, but a hurricane. These six songs are positively menacing and should be the soundtrack to any crowdkiller’s deepest, darkest fantasy. Equal parts hardcore, powerviolence, and metal, Venomspitter’s crossover appeal should help them get fans from a wide variety of fragmented scenes. And while most of the songs barely go over a minute in length, they’re just as meticulous and well-crafted as anything you’d find in modern hardcore. The furious speeds, frequent tempo changes and modest production definitely give a nod to classic Converge material as well as stuff you’d hear from Nails, but Venomspitter are quickly on their way to carving out their own sound altogether.

You can stream the entire new EP on their Bandcamp page, where you can name your own price for the download. Make sure to check it out as soon as you can!
