The Raven Autarchy - The Obscene Deliverance

I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling progressive deathcore circa 2007-2010 was something special. While most of the bands from that era are still around, many fans would argue that they changed their sound and moved on, and lost the spark that made them fresh and aggresive- be it After the Burial or Within the Ruins. Enter the Spanish wizards, The Raven Autarchy.

Their first album Kaonashi was full of grooves and technical riffs that could put the best of prog-deathcore to shame. Now they’re coming out with their follow-up, The Obscene Deliverance, and it’s also a delightful album. Our review of it will be available in a few hours, but in the meantime you can get your teeth on a brand new song they’re letting us show you titled “A Dead Cherry Blossom Tree,” and it’s a treat! Check it out after the jump.

This has all that I want from the genre. Sweet syncopated riffage, deep chugs, tight production that isn’t so tight that it’s strangling the life out of the music, solos, everything really! If you’re a fan of the aforementioned, you’ll enjoy this; and if you enjoy this, you’ll love the album when it releases on their Bandcamp next week. Also you can check out their other single from this album here.
