Being a fan of the post-black metal genre, it’s hard to not be at least tangentially aware of New Hampshire’s Vattnet Viskar. Aside from signing to Century Media and releasing their debut album Sky Swallower in 2013, the group toured with Pallbearer last year and nearly stole the show. This year, the band are looking further skyward with a coveted appearance at Maryland Deathfest and the release of their sophomore album, Settler.
There’s actually not too much to tell, but what little information is available is actually fairly substantial: the group took up shop in Earth Analog Studios in Champaign, IL to record eight tracks with prolific black metal/doom producer Sanford Parker. So basically, Settler is going to be massive.
Settler is slated to hit shelves June 16th. In the mean time, you catch the band live this May, with Early Graves:
