Last week we reported on Italy’s psychedelic sludge connoisseurs Ufomammut‘s first North American tour, with support from blog favorites Usnea. An effort to generate excitement in their seventh full-length project Ecate, the band has continued public intrigue with the debut of the album’s first single, “Plouton.” Head past the jump to hear the track:

At just over three minutes, “Plouton” is a somewhat sparse sampling of Ecate, but is in no way skimpy in quality. For while one should hope that the album will contain longer dirges, every moment is caked with enough swamp level murk to drag the listener head first into the bong water. If Electric Wizard packed their bowls with overly dank weed and had an unruly, panic-stricken high, it would more or less capture the rage that Ufomammut display here. It truly is no wonder that Neurosis brainchild Neurot Recordings are backing the band by releasing Ecate. Pre-orders through Neurot can be found here, with a release date set for March 31st.
