Fans of Californian instrumental prog-rockers CHON were spoiled today with the release of the band’s first single from their upcoming debut album, Grow, which is set to be released March 24 through Sumerian Records. The single, ‘Story’, is available for stream through Earmilk. Check it out after the jump!
Featuring a bright and uplifting tone, Story is undoubtedly characteristic of the CHON sound fans have come to love and expect. As always, the band is successful in striking a balance between technicality and mellowness, showing off at times with some intricate noodling before backing off to allow the listener to reflect. The accompanying video, which meshes nature with geometry, impressively encapsulates the mood of the song.
As a bonus, CHON took the single release as an opportunity to reveal the official album art for Grow, giving fans even more to swoon over.
Expect big things from CHON in the coming months as they gear up to drop their first full-length album and head out on tour with Circa Survive and Balance and Composure.
