Periphery Juggernaut Alpha

With these consistent song releases, Periphery may just end up streaming the Juggernaut albums in full before the end of the week. Until then, we have the title track from the first Juggernaut album, Juggernaut: Alpha. It doesn’t disappoint, either. Get ready for pure riffery following the jump.

This song is everything a title track should be: Huge, catchy and driving. When a title track doesn’t accurately represent the work it lends its name to, I hang my head in shame. Luckily, this does not shame it’s moniker. Spencer has been decimating these tracks and the trend continues on this one. Many people may disagree with that, but Spencer is here to stay and these albums give compelling reasons as to why. The instrumental is excellent, as well. The section from 2:12-2:36 is one of the best things that I’ve heard from the band and it strongly invokes catharsis. The latter half pushes into heavier territory and leads us to where we started, which is a well-placed 8-bit melody. This song both serves to excite me for the release of the Juggernaut albums and aggravate me due to them not being in my hands.
