There’s a lot of buzz surrounding the upcoming November release of Citadel, the new record from Australia’s Ne Obliviscaris. As the band prepares to assault the world, we find out what violinist and clean vocalist Tim Charles is (really) listening to after the break.

This week we’ve given the Scrobbler a rest and asked Tim Charles of Ne Obliviscaris to tell us the nine records he’s really listening to. Here’s what he submitted.

Tim is also offering explanations for his selections.

THE CONTORTIONIST & FALLUJAH albums are two of my favourite albums of 2014 and have been on constant rotation for a while now. CLOSURE IN MOSCOW & VOYAGER are both incredible Aussie bands and I expect both of these to feature in my top releases of 2014 as well. I’ve been really excited to hear the new BEYOND CREATION as we’re touring with them here in Australia in November. Check it out, it’s awesome. SIGUR ROS’ ‘Valtari’ is one the most perfect chilled out albums and I often put it on when putting my 2 year old daughter to sleep. COLDPLAY is probably her favourite band and this one has been on quite a lot lately. A favourite of mine as well. D’ANGELO is one of my all time favourite singers and he is finally touring Australia next week which I’m really excited about. And at present we’re hard at work rehearsing our live show for the Citadel album release tour here in Australia this November and listening to the new album helps ensure that I have every little detail of our songs memorised and stuck in my head. (It’s our worldwide November 7!)

Thanks Tim. We released a new track from Ne Obliviscaris earlier this week so be sure to check it out. As always sure to post your 3×3’s in comments, on Facebook, or tag #HeavyBlogisHeavy on Instagram
