Dust

By now, it should be no secret that I’m from Israel and that the scene here bares some looking at it. In between the dwindling numbers of fans and declining sales all across the world, some very interesting acts have been making their name known around here. Hardcore is not generally a genre I connect with but it’s seen a small renaissance in the past few months, with bands popping up all over the country and scorching stages with their corrosive sounds. Dust are one of these and I can’t tell you how many times I was sent this to listen to. Well, I have now and it’s pretty damn great. Head on over the jump to get a taste of the short EP these guys released this week.

What I love most about this are the stoner influences scattered all over, especially in the guitars on ‘Slippin’ Away’, which could easily be on a Red Fang track. The vocals are highly reminiscent of the legendary Henry Rollins, which is always a good thing. Nor do these guys relent, as the more sludgy sound is quickly abandoned as the EP progresses. Tracks like ‘Brain Fuck Your Skull’ and ‘P.M.A’ are much faster and more abrasive, while ‘Numb’ has this Pantera groove which is just hard to shake off. At the end of the day, this is short, aggressive hardcore that kicks you in the face and doesn’t apologize for it. Can’t wait to catch these guys doing what they do live.

The EP is name your price over at bandcamp, so make sure to snag it as fast as you can. Stay aggressive!
