Instrumental jazz fusion metal stalwarts Exivious are probably one of the more underrated bands in metal today. Made up of former Cynic members Tymon Kruidenier and Robin Zielhorst, current Dodecahedron guitarist Michel Nienhuis and drummer virtuoso Yuma Van Eekelen, who has played with the likes of Pestilence, Textures and The New Dominion, Exivious are supergroup in every sense of the word, and a damn good one at that. The band has posted a video of Yuma Van Eekelen absolutely crushing their song “One’s Glow” off of last year’s Liminal, and it is fantastic. Watch and be amazed after the jump.

Like I said, unbelievable. I wasn’t exaggerating when I said Yuma was a virtuoso on his instrument. “One’s Glow” is actually my favorite song off of Liminal, mainly because of the sweet drum licks throughout the song, so I for one am uber-stoked that Exivious chose to post a drum play through of this particular song. Now I can watch it over and over and over again, and maybe in 5 years or so, I’ll be able to cover it on drums. As a drummer myself, Yuma is one of my favorite newer drummers I’ve discovered, and in my humble opinion, he is vastly underrated. If you want to hear more of his amazing drum work, I recommend you check out Doctrine by Pestilence or his recently disbanded former band, The New Dominion. Also, if you never got a chance to hear Liminal, listen below!
