A few weeks ago, we staff members discussed super groups that have become as popular as the original bands that formed them. Many names were thrown in but Down was no doubt foremost among them. Their stoner straight forwardness and intense talent for sticky, powerful riffs, coupled with Phil Anselmo‘s legendary vocals, have made them a fan favorite over the twenty plus years of their existence. And so, we come to the second part of their fourth release with expectations of presence and fuzzy hooks.
To be certain, Down realize what is expected of them and have the skills to deliver. The album is filled to the brim with riffs, relying on trusted methods and the different strong points of each member to maintain its vibe. This promises great things for the tour season ahead as Down, well known for their explosive live performances, take to the field in support of their new release. Make sure to jam Part 2 as much as you can and then go catch these titans of metal live. You won’t regret it.
