Alcest Streaming New Album, Shelter

alcest - shelter

Alcest‘s beautiful metamorphosis from black metal act to dream pop shoegazers has been both a source of frustration and admiration from the metal community. Their latest record Shelter is artful, majestic, and nostalgic, but does it hold up to the band’s celebrated and highly influential discography? I have a feeling that it will divide the fanbase even further, but we here at Heavy Blog dig it!

The new album is now available for streaming in its entirety over at Pitchfork. You’d think after all this time, they would come up with a more intuitive media player, but if you want to hear Shelter ahead of its January 21st release date, this is the best way to do it.

If you’re the kind of guy who likes owning music like some sort of nerd — one of us/one of us — Prophecy Productions has the record for pre-sale on CD and LP. Historically speaking, an Alcest LP tends to sell out and it’ll be hard to find at a reasonable price. Hop on that while you can!
