Coheed & Cambria Dissect Bears In ‘Number City

Ever watch a music video, get right to the end, sit back and go ‘I have no idea what just happened’? Well, that’s precisely the reaction I clocked from watching Coheed And Cambria‘s ‘Number City‘. There’s teddybears, guts and a whole lot of surgery — probably worth just seeing it for yourself:

Although, I can see why such a sugary sweet song would have such a quaint video. ‘Number City‘ is a bit of a departure for the band, away from their normally surging prog-rock, composed of dance-y drum beats, a brass section and commanded by Claudio Sanchez’s croon — not unlike Muse’s ‘Supermassive Black Hole‘ in its influences, execution, and place within their back catalogue.

The track is taken from the band’s most recent album, The Afterman: Descension, which came out earlier in the year. You can read Alkahest’s review here — spoilers: it’s pretty damn good.
