Mastodon Shoes?!

Mastodon have their own kicks coming out in July from Vans.

Too bad they only come in shitty hi-tops and shitty slip-ons. Leave it to Vans to ruin potentially good merch.

Thanks for the heads up to Metalsucks.

Deathcore band Arsonists Get All The Girls have posted a new song on their myspace page called “Saturnine”. It’s from their upcoming album Portals, which has some pretty rad album art, as you see below. I enjoyed this band’s last work The Game Of Life, but I don’t know about this new song. Maybe it’ll grow on me.

Portals comes out July 15th on Century Media Records.

That Phonogetic Records thing was not true, as most of us already know. But now it looks like the Dillinger label that guitarist Ben Weinman was talking about will be called Party Smasher Inc., named after a killer song from 2007′s Ire Works.

Party Smasher Inc. is the “official creative umbrella” for everything DEP related. Ben had this to say:

“After over a decade of touring and making music we have realized that there is the right way of doing things, the wrong way of doing things, and then the Dillinger way of doing things. Party Smasher Inc. will represent our collected efforts on all things Dillinger-related.”

Sounds pretty awesome to me. Their new album Option Paralysis is in the works and will be due out by early 2010 on Season Of Mist records (in association with Party Smasher Inc. of course).

Devin Townsend uploaded two new videos of his band and him jamming out music for Addicted in pre-production. They sound pretty killer so far.

After the jump, watch a short vid of Devin’s yardsale!

Get Ready For Some LULZ

What happens when the incredibly average pop stylings of Katy Perry meets incredibly average power metal? You get this gem which is waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the original:

She fits right in, no?

The song was put together by a heavy metal fan by the name of Andy Xiong, putting the original vocal track by Katy and his own original instrumentation together, complete with guitar and keyboard solos. Apparently the internet metal community is loving this up right now, with the video getting over 6,500 21,000 hits in just a couple of days.

Hopefully he’ll do more power-pop mashups like this. Whatever he can come up with would surely beat the hell out of Dragonforce.

UPDATE: FIXED LINK. Download the mp3 here.

Grindcore pioneers Napalm Death released their new video for the title track from this year’s album Time Waits For No Slave. The video is pretty kickass. Vocalist Mark “Barney” Greenway had this to say:

“[The video] encompasses all the features of a dour, sterile, product-driven world and the sheer joy of freeing up your mind and appreciating the simplicity of the world evolving around you rather than flogging yourself to death all the time to get ahead. [It was] done in Norwich (Eastern U.K.) with Tom Blyth, who you might not have heard of. But he was in a really old U.K. hardcore band called Goober Patrol. We saw his work and he really seems to understand the art of protest without the cheesiness or cliché.”

The album was released in the U.S. on February 10 on Century Media Records.  Watch the video above and rock the fuck out.

Fuck yes. HBIH’s favorite underground brutal tech death metal band Slaughterbox have signed to the small and independant metal label Dead World Syndicate Records. Does this mean a Slaughterbox full length debut is on the horizon? I sure do hope so. On Slaughterbox’s last.fm page, guitarist Hal Rotter (center) said a new EP will be released soon within the coming weeks. More news is to be announced soon.

You know, while waiting for this new release, hop on over to last.fm and listen to their first EP/demo The Ubiquity of Subjugation. It’s some brutal (and fucking awesome) stuff.

The Wizards of Partying, Municipal Waste, have a new song on their myspace to annihilate you.  It’s titled “Wrong Answer“. There’s nothing new here, it’s good old crossover thrash and it’s just super fun stuff. The only thing different is that it’s over 2 minutes. Insane, that is. The song is for their upcoming release “Massive Aggressive” which will be out August 25th on Earache Records.

So get drunk and give it a listen. Or listen to it sober, whatever. I don’t give a shit.

t

Twitter info:
If interested we have a new Twitter account to update you folks on the writing process of our new record… we never really used this before, so bear with us. Click below to check it out… ALSO, YOU DON’T HAVE TO HAVE AN ACCOUNT TO READ WHAT WE WRITE… its just a quick easy way to tell you what we’re doing everyday. we want to save all the “big news”  for our MySpace/mailing list… and we figured a few of you would want to know the boring everyday stuff we do in the studio…  that ladies and gentleman, is why we created the twitter account.

I’ve got nothing else to add other than “I CAN’T WAIT THIS WILL BE AWESOME.”
